How to Have A Great Day Where Everything Just Clicks

We all have had those days where things just click.  Where we are performing in a great way and producing some of our best thoughts and best work. We are motivated, inspired, productive and doing everything with an amazing amount of quality.

How great are those days?

We may not be quite sure why we are feeling so great and doing things so well, but we know for sure we want this to be something we are able to repeat time and time again.

We never want this feeling to leave.  Things are just flowing.

But, then tomorrow comes and things are just not as right as they were the day before.  It is not that we have completely lost our ability to do things well, but for some reason, things are just not as great as they were the day before when everything was flowing and just clicking.

Nevertheless, we push through the day and produce results.

However, we look forward to the time when another day comes where we are feeling and working in a great way. We convince ourselves that every day can’t always be great and we buy into the belief that there will be great days and then there will be those not so great days where things are just not easily clicking.

All we can do is just patiently await the next time another great day comes our way.

Or …

The alternaview

We can have continual great days where everything is flowing and clicking.  All we have to do is stay connected to those feelings that stimulate our passion, productivity, and creativity. When we are connected to those feelings, everything just naturally flows from them in the best way.

And, that is when we really have a great day.

We can actually live our lives in a way that allows us to continually stay connected to these positive feelings throughout the course of the day.  We can do things in such a way that we actually stimulate all those types of feelings that allow us to be productive and creative.  When we figure out how to consistently do this, the things we do and create are just better.

And, this is not something that magically happens.  We can actually choose to move throughout our day differently and approach experiences and interactions with other people in a way that allows us to tap into that great side of us over and over again and produce our best work. This is when we are able to apply ourselves to whatever it is we are doing in the most amazing ways.

The greatest thing is that we can get better and better living in this way and being able to tap into that side of ourselves. All we have to do is continually focus on doing the right things in the right way.

How to use this alternaview:

You only need to focus on 3 Things.  Yes, that is right, there are only 3 things you have to focus on doing well each and every day … that is very manageable and doable.

When you do these 3 things really well, everything just flows.

There are 3 great ways to recharge your battery and stimulate great feelings throughout the course of the day. And, if you can just do these 3 things, you will absolutely stay connected to great feelings that will allow you to perform in the best ways.

(1) High quality personal time

(2) Friendly and positive interactions with other people

(3) Doing whatever activity that is currently in front of you in a great way

Focus #1: Enjoy your alone time. Take advantage of time where you are alone.  Whether it is only fifteen minutes when you are driving to work, or an hour of time you have set aside to relax. When you are by yourself, use that time in the best way possible.  Learn how to quiet your mind and enjoy the silence.  Don’t worry about all you have to do or anything that has happened, just relax and enjoy the time you have to yourself. Take time to relax your mind.

Focus #2: Have positive interactions with everyone you come into contact with throughout the day. Really care about and listen to what people are saying.  Be kind, sensitive and understanding throughout the day in all your communications with other people.  Pay attention to other people and interact with everyone in a great way. It is honestly amazing how much positive energy will come right back to you.

Focus #3: Do whatever is currently in front of you in a great way. Pay attention and totally engage with whatever activity you are doing.  If you are reading a book, read it with the utmost attention.  If you are writing, pour your passion and energy into what you are writing.  If you are driving, put all of your attention and focus on the experience.  Totally experience whatever it is you are doing in the greatest ways regardless of what it is.

Conclusion

You really can have day after day where everything is just clicking and flowing.  You just have to make certain you are staying connected with those feelings that allow this to be possible.  And, that means you have to take advantage of your ability to use the things you come into contact with to stimulate positive energy and good feelings. When you are able to successfully do this, you will continually be connected to the greatest feelings that are the source of your creativity, productivity and passion … that is the alternaview.

Do you agree with this alternaview?  Are you able to continually stay connected to great feelings throughout the course of the day? Please share your thoughts in the comment section.

Sibyl,

It is interesting that I am reading this now, as today I am having an opposite feeling but can not pinpoint what is not working and on surface it should look like everything is great but my inner feeling is bit low.

I am going to look at these tips make my remaining day better though. Thanks for uplifting post!

Preeti: Thanks for the comment and the real world example. Sometimes it really is all about realizing that everything really is great right now, but we do sometimes have to find our way to that perception and reality. Sometimes it just doesn’t come naturally, and I have noticed that if you can really deeply connect with the moment in front of you, it really opens up the moment and allows you to tap into the greatness that was always there. Yes, it is much easier said than done, :) but practice most certainly allows us to get better and better at. Thanks so much for the comment and sharing your challenge.

Great tips Sibyl,

I see some people around me who think that “the flow” just happens. It doesn’t. One has to have the right mindset for that and make a deliberate effort in the right direction to make things seem like “clicking” in a day.

Always good to read you, my friend.

Abubakar: Always good to hear from you. Thanks for the comment. You are so right that it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that the flow just happens. There are actually things we can and should be doing to ensure that we are always deeply connected to the moment and able to tap onto that flow. Once we are able to do that, we really can continually experience the flow we are looking for. Thanks again for the comment. Much appreciated.

Sibyl,
It looks as though a big part of what you are saying is that it is a choice. There are times that I would strongly disagree. However, the reality is that the times that I would most be disagreeable, would be those times that I choose to enmesh myself deep in my own problems. When I am in the moment, rational and objective, I completely agree with you. Choices, it is great to have them, not always easy to choose and execute. Thanks for the reminder that I am in control of the choices I make and my reaction to my environment.

Occasionallyserene: Thanks for the comment. I thought you said was so important about there being a choice. That is so rue and we really do get to decide how we are going to approach and connect to every moment. As you mentioned, we can choose to be absorbed in our problems and other things that interfere with our peace of mind. Or, we can connect with the great things each moment offers and allow things to flow. It really is all about choice. Thanks for sharing that great insight.

I have been having a day that just clicks and I decided that the best way to end it would be to come over and say hello before I call it a night. I really appreciate you and your encouraging posts. I have more ‘in the flow’ days than I used to because I work to stay mindful. It takes a lot of reminding in my case. It’s easy to get stuck on the roller coaster of the day’s events, but at least my rides are shorter than before :)

Jean: Thanks for the comment and congratulations on your day that just clicks. There is nothing better :) I think you make a really important point about having more mindful days and the impact they have on our ability to flow. It really is so true and once we realize that our connection can strengthen and fade, we can control the things we do so that it is always as strong as possible. Great insight and thoughts. Thanks for sharing them and I really am so glad to have you here at the alternaview.

Dear Sibyl, number three is the one that really stands out. Being present at what I do, being focused on adding value and quality, being totally there means that I am using all that I have to my disposal, conscious and unconsciously.
I love when I am able to be so focused and yes I need to pay attention to have that happen and yes when I am in that state things flow.
That is how we always should do things and yet . . . xox Wilma

It really is how we always should do things. I also really liked what you said about using everything around you that is available in the best ways. That really is what it is all about. Thanks again for the comment. I really appreciate it.

hello sibyl,
how are you?
thanks for sharing this article.
i just read another blog and the focus was on slowing down, having some me!!! time, taking mental notes & relaxing, instead of being always caught up in the hustle & bustle. this fits perfectly with the focus 1 (having a personal time). it’s so relevant because you are able to get organised, plan your time, relax, reflect, be in the right frame of mind… and all these constitute to having a great day.
i also believe positive interaction is essential in boosting our self esteem/confidence,improving communication & our welllbeing not forgetting the networks that will be established via interaction and these contribute to having a great day.
take care of yourself and enjoy the rest of the day

Hey Ayo: Thanks for the comment and I completely agree that there is nothing better than just relaxing and getting into the best frame of mind. It is too easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, but when we consciously choose to connect with each moment in the best ways we can, things just beautifully flow from that. Thank you so much for always stopping by the alternaivew and sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate it. Have a great one.

There is a great benefit in having high quality personal time and I am glad it made it to #1 on your list. This was something I recently learned by accident just the other day. I was feeling overwhelmed and burnout. There was more work that needed to be done than there was time in a day. Heck ,I think I would have needed a month to do everything I was trying to accomplish. I finally got to the point were I had stressed myself to the point where I wasn’t doing anything effectively. I stopped what I was doing, turned off my computer, went into a room, and sat there and cleared my thoughts. It was the best day I have had in a really long time. I didn’t get everything that I would have like to accomplished but for some reason that was a day that clicked. This post has changed the way I look at my life. Thank you for the alternaview Sibyl.

Frank: I love that story. Thanks for sharing it and that really is a perfect example of letting go. It really is necessary to prioritize yourself and your peace of mind and when you are committed to doing that, everything opens and flows in the best ways. I really think what you said was so important because sometimes we really do need to just stop and take a moment. That is how we recharge and really connect to the moment, even if it means we aren’t doing things we feel we should be. There is nothing more important than maintaining a great frame of mind. Thanks for the real world and the comment. I really appreciate it.

Hi Sibyl. I find it so empowering to realize that I can control the flow of my day. If things start going wrong, I’m not helpless. I, like everyone else, am fully capable to deciding the type of day I will have. And I truly believe that I can create awesomeness out of staleness by deliberately creating joy. Sometimes joy just happens, but all the time we can call it forth.

It is so true and once we realize we have this ability and continually tap into it, it is amazing how consistently things just flow. It is all about taking advantage of the current moment and what it is offering us to embrace. Thanks for sharing your insights and thoughts. I really appreciate it.

Hi Sibyl,

I can relate a lot to this post as I get those days indeed when things are low. But (1), and (2) above have done wonders for me to get recharged, and kicking again.
