Just a quick simple tip to do TODAY that will give you a little jolt of positive energy and motivation to get you going.
Who doesn’t need a nice little blast of positive energy from time to time?
We all know how it feels to wake up in the morning and not feel 100% ready to go attack our day.
Sometimes it may be because something is weighing on our minds. Or, there may not necessarily be anything wrong, but for one reason or another, we are not feeling very motivated and energized.
Just yesterday I was feeling blah … for no particular reason, and I knew I needed a little pick me up if I was going to have a productive day (considering that I am less than a month away from delivering kid #2, I definitely was in need of a productive day).
So, what did I do?
I took a look at my Positive Energy and Motivation List that I put together. It’s a list of all the things I feel great about and the things I have already accomplished.
Sound hokey and “Polyannish”?
Well, it might be, but who cares? It’s not like you ever have to share this list with anyone else. These are your private thoughts and if you choose to, you get to keep them to yourself.
However, everyone needs one of these lists and should start everyday off glancing at it.
We can always tap into our motivation and positive energy supply by bringing the right types of thoughts top of mind and that’s what this list helps you do easily and quickly.
When you read your list, you instantly shift your focus to those things that are great about your life and that you have already accomplished. And, when you do this, it automatically snaps you into being appreciative.
That is when all the positive energy and motivation starts flowing easily.
The majority of us are masters at being our own worse critics and depending on the situation, we can be pretty hard on ourselves. We then wonder why we don’t always feel confident, energized and super motivated.
Hmmmm, maybe because we are way better at noticing all the things that are bothering us instead of focusing on all those things we have going for us and have done right.
Now, I am not suggesting you use this list to turn into an egomaniac. We definitely don’t need anymore of those in the world.
I also am not recommending that you don’t take notice of your mistakes and learn from them because that is also essential.
However, I am suggesting you add something to your daily routine that will give you that extra boost of confidence, positive energy and motivation to keep moving forward everyday.
And, TODAY is the day to put together your list. It will take you very little time and give you so many benefits.
Anything and everything you have done that you feel great about and are proud of should be on your list. You should also update it from time to time when there is something to add to it and of course glance at it every single morning.
Don’t you love it when you can just do a simple thing TODAY and set yourself up to move forward in a great way. Always remember there is so much possibility in TODAY.
Take advantage of the time you have TODAY to learn, laugh, improve, love, and really live in the greatest way.
Live Today Better than Yesterday.
If you have a chance, please drop by the Possibility of Today Facebook Page. I just launched it this week and would love to be able to connect with you on Facebook. And of course, if you have any other comments or questions, please feel free to leave them below or send me an e-mail.
“There is so much possibility in today.” Thank you for these words and all your other words here Sibyl, you are a true champion of facing life with a happy and positive spirit.
I couldn’t help but notice on your site your words about how you gave up complaining one day. That was sure a special day wasn’t it, for you and for a lot of other people too…now I see where your lovely smile comes from. A complaint-free heart. Stay strong.
Thanks Christopher for the kind words. I really appreciate it and appreciate you stopping by. So glad that you agree and like the statement that there is so much possibility in today.
Very insightful words. I wanted to know what would be on your list of motivation Sibyl?

King Arthur? Is that you?
Just about everything is on my list. My family, my accomplishments … you name it
Great post! I will put my list together TODAY…
I can relate so well to this post because there are days when I get up less than enthused and sometimes even discouraged. Taking a look at all that I’ve accomplished will definitely snap me back to reality and give me a boost of confidence to help me realize “Hey, I did that…I am pretty awesome”.
I have also found that focusing my attention on what I can do TODAY to help someone else feel awesome works well too (similar to this blog). As soon as I open my eyes, and before my feet touch the floor I ask myself “What can I do TODAY to improve someone elses TODAY”, because no matter how discouraged, worried, anxious I feel, there is someone else out there facing more difficult circumstances than I. Whether it’s something as small as being polite to every person I connect with (including telemarketers, the person that cut me off on the freeway, or that shopper that ran over my heel with their cart at the supermarket), giving a compliment because there is something beautiful about every person or volunteering my time at a soup kitchen providing someone a hot breakfast and a cup of coffee which may be the best part of their TODAY…
Erica: I love that. There really is nothing better than starting off the day focused on how you can make someone else’s. When you approach your days in that way, there is no way that positive energy will not come right back to you:) Thanks so much for the comment and I am glad that you are putting your list together. Let me know how it works for you. I think you will really like it.
I think a personal list of all we are as a person, our accomplishments, and our personal promises and motivations as to why we are doing what we do, what we’re working for, or aiming to achieve, certainly would hit the mark Sibyl. Adding lots of colour and a dash of positive quotes should get anyone out of bed any morning. Great idea, simple process, big implications!!
A dash of positive quotes … I love that. I think that is a great addition for the list and will always keep you focused on the right things. That’s really what it is all about. Thanks John for the comment and for stopping by.
I Love It!
When I first came across you Sibyl I said that you had a special *Glow*. That you would have a positive effect on many people for years to come. Well, here’s your new daily site…and…perhaps I detected that beautiful *Glow* yesterday of the expectant Mother in her last month!
Just think! Another person coming into this world that you will have a positive influence towards.
Thanks for the idea of the + Energy and Motivation List. I feel that I am up to making a pretty good list from my past, and adding onto it each day no matter how large or small an acheivement.
I feel so *happy* for you and your family Sibyl…I am going to add this *happiness* to my list today!
Thanks!
Rand
Thanks Rand … so glad that I made your list
That is sweet of you.
Hi Sibyl,
Reading your post has given me a great start to my day. Thank you. Live the prescious moments.
be good to yourself
David
Thanks David. I am so glad. Thanks for the comment and for stopping by.
Well, my days starts with meditation and also ends with it. That way, I synchronize myself with the powerful source energy and constantly stay motivated.
Most people think they need motivation to get things done..while the truth seems totally opposite,..you get motivated once you complete the work and then..move on to do more.
Jaky: I think meditation is a great way to start the day and a great way to end it. I can definitely understand why that gives you all the motivation you need
Thanks for sharing that… great point and thank for stopping by.
That’s right Sibyl. Our minds are so powerful, as well as what we choose to focus on! Great post. I like your idea here. And sounds like a great way to start the day. I need to make my list! And best of luck to you on Facebook–looks great.
Hey Sean: Thanks for stopping by. So glad that you liked the list. Thanks for also checking out the Facebook page and for the kind words. I really appreciate it. Have a great weekend

Agree…that really was a great one from J.D. He is always dropping them here
Love that J.D. You always share the best nuggets of wisdom. I am writing that one down for sure
Hi Sibyl,
I always have my want-to-do list, which I go to when I am too focused on the to-do list. It’s a great reminder when I get tunnel vision. It’s like a breath of fresh air to stop and remember the things that bring enjoyment to my life.
So true Gail…it is all about continually bringing in those continual breaths of fresh air. I really like the way you put it. Thanks so much for the comment and dropping by. It’s always great to hear from you.
Hi Sibyl,
It is always good to have an extra boost of energy to get the day going. Given our hectic lives, we could all use it.
I love your suggestion about putting together a list that makes us feel great. I am a big believer in nourishment of the mind and if we nourish ourselves with things that uplift us, we are likelier to feel great. The problem with having only one thing to feel great about is that it can lose its shine after awhile. This is why it is better to have many things to feel great about to back us up. If one fails, we have others to count on.
One of the most powerful parts of my list is the list of heroes I have. By reminding myself of how they lived and what they would do, I can quickly inspire myself even if my energy levels are low.
Thank you for showing us how to live today better than yesterday!
Irving the Vizier
PS: Is kid #2 a boy or a girl?
Hey Irving: Thanks for dropping by. I like that ide of a list of heroes. I think that is a great idea too. As you mentioned, it is all about keeping the right type of thoughts top of mind so you can keep the positive energy flowing and the good momentum. Thanks so much for the comment and stopping by … oh, and kid #2 is a boy. We will have a 5 year old girl and now a boy … all very exciting
thanks for asking.
Wow a girl and now a boy! That’s just perfect!
I hope you have a smooth delivery when you are due!
Hi Sibyl!
I love this blog – I’m glad you left the link with your comment over on mine.
The Possibility of Today is a fabulous topic to be talking about and I love how you’re bringing more positivity and possibility into the world.
Great idea to make a list like that! It’s great to have something to refer to quickly to get a bit of a pick-me-up.
Thanks Jessica. So glad that you like the post and the blog. Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you find the list helpful and that it motivates you everyday
Sibyl,
There are so many times in my life where I focused on the bad instead of the good. I mean I had just found some money on the ground, won in a game of basketball, and was about to get some free food but all I could focus on was a test that I had failed 2 weeks earlier. My good outweighed my bad but the one challenging item took up my focus. This is a great practice that has the potential to change lives. Thanks.
Frank: Thanks so much for the comment and stopping by. You really make a good point that when we focus on the challenging thing, it can just overshadow all that is going well and working. That really is why we have to make a concerted effort to keep our minds where they should be. Thanks again for stopping by.
I agree. When we start to focus on what is going right and flow with that energy we begin to manifest more of what we want v.s what we don’t want. It begins and ends with being grateful for where we are now…I believe.
Baker: We are definitely on the same page. It is all about having appreciation for where you are at this precise moment. Thanks for the comment and for stopping by. It really is great to see you back here again.
Sibyl for President! Thanks for this empowering post.
Enjoyed reading it, and look forward to implementing the sage suggestions. Be well.
LOL…Oh my goodness. You are hilarious. So glad that you enjoyed reading the post and glad that you stopped by.
I love the article about the sign. I’ve been in recovery from drugs and alcohol for about a year and I’ve noticed that there are signs everywhere. Just yesterday I tried to ignore a message from God and He just spoke it LOUDER the second time! He put obstacles in my way so I HAD to listen to the message. I’ve always been a believer that God is sending me messages, or signs all the time, it’s sometimes in a form of just instinct and intuition but it’s never a coincidence. This universe is not out to get us… some people live thinking that… in my addiction I was very convinced that life was just depressing and terrible. I have found in this last year with a lot of guidance from others in recovery and people like you that LIFE IS GRAND! We just have to, as a Metallica song says, “open your mind to a different view, every day for us something new”. I am so blessed to be able to see and recognize my blessings today. Thank you for your inspiration!
Tina: Thank you so much for the great comment and real world story. I always feel that adds so much to the conversations here so thanks for sharing. Congratulations on your recovery. That is so great. I totally agree with you that there are no coincidences and you are so right to be on the lookout and listen for the signs. This is something that I learned and realized not all that long ago, but now that I understand there are always helpful messages coming my way, I am able to see how they are always steering me in the right direction. Thanks so much for the comment and thanks for dropping by.
