“The secret dream you’ve carried forever, denying its reality even to yourself, has refused to go away and is ready to be born.” Marianne Williamson
Do you have something you have always dreamed about doing? Is there something you feel you were meant to do?
We all have at least one secret dream.
There is something that has always been at the back of our minds for as long as we can remember but, for one reason or another, we haven’t really done enough about it.
Life has always managed to somehow get in the way.
Maybe we couldn’t focus on our dream because we needed to take care of our family; OR
Maybe the timing was always off and we never felt like we could pursue our dream; OR
Maybe things just didn’t fall into place like we needed them to.
Even though we may have some very good reasons why we haven’t moved in the direction of our dream, there’s no denying the fact that we feel like we are missing something.
This dream that has been with us for so long will not go away. It has staying power.
Looking back, I can remember so many times where I would literally question myself and my dream. I would be lying in bed at night and think to myself, “Do you really think its ever going to happen? Is it possible? There is just no way. Is there? Maybe you should just let it go.”
But, I didn’t. Actually, I couldn’t. It didn’t matter how many times I tried to dismiss it, my dream was not going anywhere.
And, neither is yours.
If you thought you were going to just be able to continue doing what you have been, play it safe, and have your dream stay put in the back of your mind, think otherwise.
That’s just not the way we are programmed. And, honestly that’s a good thing.
We are meant to break out of the status quo. We are not supposed to live life in a holding pattern.
Life is not supposed to just be “ho hum” and Blasé.
We have our dream because we are absolutely meant to accomplish it. We just have to figure out how to believe that and get out of our own way.
That’s where the work comes in. But, fortunately, it is something we can work at day by day and our confidence will grow with every step we take.
You are reading this for a reason. Trust me, there are a lot of people that aren’t reading this post, but you are.
What you want is ready to be born. This is the time, but you have to do your part.
What should you do?
Commit TODAY to taking a step every single day … no exceptions, no excuses.
It doesn’t have to be a huge step, even the smallest ones count. Do some research on what you want, work on improving your confidence, put together an action list, add something related to your dream to your “to do” list.
What you do is not nearly as important as making sure you do something every single day.
As time goes on, more and more will unfold and your best next steps will be clear.
Just make sure you are taking a step forward every single day and remember that after you take enough baby steps, the quantum leaps always come.
i am inspired and committed to take a step daily … thank you!
Yeah! I am so glad Marion:) Thanks for the comment and letting me know.
Hi Sibyl,
I absolutely agree..we each have a dream that is real and do-able. Something I just learned within my own life is an extension of your thoughts: when we realize a certain “level” of a dream or we realize the dream..we are not done. We may allow for expansion of our original dream, we may continue to dream..there is no cap on magic, or experience or magnificence. Or, the only cap that exists is one that is self-imposed..so yes, dream, big..and then realize that each step along the way is actually ‘you living your dream’ right here, right now. How fun and exciting!
Thank you so much Joy for the comment and for stopping by. You are so right that the sky is the limit and so we should dream big dreams. I think that is great wisdom and advice. Thanks for sharing it here:)
Thank you so much for this amazing post. It resonates with me to this very moment, and I have started making my “regular” become “blooming”. But today, I had doubts, frustrations, and had to talk to a good friend for guidance. Then I check my email and this is what it was all about. My dream will come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love that Mimi. I am so glad it came to you at the perfect time. Thanks so much for the comment and for stopping by.
Sibyl,
Wow! What an outstanding post. Thanks for your inspiration and sound and solid information about following that dream that plants its seeds within each of us. We have only to nourish it and watch it grow– that dream that points you toward your life’s purpose. And, when you work and succeed at bringing that dream to fruition. “Oh, how sweet it is.”
Life finally comes full circle and and there is no better joy than knowing your life’s purpose. LOVEHUGS, Dr. Nana Bananas

Boy!
Looks like I did indeed come back at the right moment!
…well I do have a few big dreams:
My “little steps” have once again started at:
http://www.mtrp.org/pop_map_details.asp?area_idno=0&habitat_idno=0&trail_idno=3
I went up in 24 minutes yesterday…in no time I will be running all the way to the crest, trying each time to be faster. This is pretty natural stuff for me. I got to say that being a stagehand the past seven years has given me a different strength and drive that I did not have when I was competing
The dream of competing and perhaps winning the Western States 100 mile Run across the Sierra’s was something I once trained, competed for, and took seriously. If you use the link to Cowels Mountain and click on the picture of Lake Murray on the right side; this is one place where I placed right on top with an actually winner of the Western States in a 50 mile race.
But now that I am older I have “allowed for expansion” of my dream, by now training to back-pack the whole Pacific Crest Trail.
Another dream is to fall ridiculously and uncontrolably in love with… who in my eyes… is the most wonderful woman in the world, and for this creature to be in the same state of rapture avec *moi*
Finally!
I want to write one world renown poem.
Dream on…
…Cowels Mountain update:
Up in 23 minutes today (what a lung burner!) Met and talked to a group of Air Force recruits in their 20′s at the top. They did it in 30 minutes. On the descent the group, except for one, ran back down. The one recruit, and myself walked down (much better on the knees…better to run hard up). The two of us had a great conversation on the trail going down. The people you meet on the journey is *one reward* while taking “small steps”.
So very true Rand. Thanks for sharing your story and thanks for the comment:)
Hey Rand: So glad you have so many amazing dreams:) It really is all about taking the little steps and I think it is great that you have already begun. Thanks so much for the comment and for dropping by.
Thank you for the message today
You are very welcome Stephen:) So glad that you liked it.
Good work Sibyl! I’ll take you advice! Thank you!
Thanks Elina:) So glad that you liked the post and are going to start taking a step a day:)
The commitment to do something every day is so powerful. I had not thought about that until I read your post. I am so motivated now to make that personal pledge. Something, one step, every day. Thank you!
So glad Galen:) I am glad that you like the post and are going to commit to a step everyday. Keep me updated:)
Hi Sibyl!
Life is lived in a single step. The next step is still to come and the last one is where we used to be. I love the idea that everything we do, all our dreams that are chased or pursued or discovered are acheived in the daily step on the path that leads to it. So often, we stumble off the path or are too afraid to ever step onto it and we watch our dreams drift around outside the window of our lives, never opening it to reach out and grab at it. And so we live not fully fulfilled, something inside always questioning what things would have been like had we simply opened the window. I love that you urge us to step out and reach for our dreams and start taking those daily steps toward a life we have always wished we could live.
Here’s to daily steps!
Thanks for the inspiration, Sibyl!
Hey Ken: Thanks for the thoughtful comment and the wisdom you shared here. I loved everything you said and thought you really made such a great point about doing whatever we needed to in order to reach out and grabbing our dreams. That really is what it is all about. Thanks so much for the comment.
There is a lot to be said for the power of small actions over time. The consistency adds up and works in our favor.
So very true J.D. …my favorite quote: everything proceeds by an orderly sequence of growth. Thanks for the comment and for stopping by.
Hi Sybil! Great post. I love the highlight that Joy made… “living your dream right here, right now”… Seizing the day and the moments of the day is the way to live the dream. This to me speaks louder than the phrase, “faking it until you make it”; instead it says, “live your life as if you are…”
I think therefore I am…
dream thoughts
Ajen: I am so glad you like the post and I think you are spot on about what Joy said. It really is about living the dream right now and knowing that you are doing all you can to make it your reality. Thanks again for the comment.
Thanks a bunch for this great post Sibyl, I always love to touch in and listen to your spirit speaking. How true. Persistence wins the day. Let us never give up on our dreams and they will not give up on us.
Thanks for the comment and the kind words Chris. I really appreciate it:) Thanks also for stopping by. Always great to have you commenting here.
Thank you so much for your words of wisdom and inspiration!
You make my days so much more meaningful. You make a big difference in my life! Take care!
Oh, thanks Shelia:) That really means a lot. Thanks for taking the time to let me know you liked the post. I am so glad you found it inspiring:)
Dreams are like seeds Sibyl – you have to feed them, nurture them, protect them, and sow them in the right soil (a positive mind set full of intention). But that also means they will take time as well as care to flower and germinate which means sometime in the future. Sow to grow and that dream will flower one magical day.
Hey John: Thanks for the comment and I love the analogy. You are so right that dreams are like weeds. It is all about doing everything you can just as you mentioned. Thanks for dropping by.
Hi Sibyl! Ur words givs xtra feathers to d wings of my dreams 4 d Life that is so precious! Thnx!
