What You Must Know to Accomplish Anything You Really Want

“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark.” Michelangelo

Have you ever had any doubts about your ability to accomplish something you really want?

Have you ever been looking for a sign or any kind of confirmation that what you really want will eventually and absolutely happen?

You want to know for sure that you aren’t crazy for trying, for believing, for investing your time and your heart into whatever it is you are pursuing.

If you can just have some sort of confirmation and be reassured that what you want will come your way, THEN it makes perfect sense to stay the course and give everything you can to what you are working to create.

Well, if any of this sounds familiar, then you may be interested to know that I know exactly how that feels.

And, after many trials and errors … I found (okay, I stumbled into) the solution.

You see, I had the formula a little mixed up.

I was looking for confirmation that everything was going to fall into place BEFORE I was willing to invest everything I could (especially my heart) into whatever it was I wanted.

I didn’t want to invest too much into something that wasn’t going to work out.

I didn’t want to set myself up to just be disappointed in the end if things didn’t come together.

And, that was the mistake I made.

Because in many instances you don’t get absolute confirmation that things are going to work out until AFTER you have chosen to invest everything you can into making them come together.

In fact, it is often the case that we have to pour our passion and energy (and especially our heart) into what we want BEFORE things can really come together as they should.

We’ve got to be willing to take steps forward in the dark until we can see the light.

how do you actually do it?

  1. Continually remind yourself that what you really want is absolutely possible.
  2. Focus on Today and put everything you can (especially your heart) behind whatever it is you are trying to create.
  3. Realize that it is your job to believe and continually strengthen your confidence. You must keep going … even in the dark.
Live Today Better than Yesterday.

Sibyl, it is great thought!! We are afraid to loose, so we don’t let ourselves to win. Somebody said that, if you have won in your spirit, then you’ll win in reality. So, propbably yes, the most important thing is working on your confidence that it is possible to do this and you are the right person to do the thing. And also to work through the situation wholeheartedly.:) :) love this post:)

So glad you loved it Zanetka. I loved that statement you shared about being afraid to loose and ending up not allowing ourselves to win. So very true.

    The Vizier says:

    Hi Sibyl,

It is true. You have to give something your all before you can hope to get what you want. The more complex or greater the endeavour is, the greater your effort and planning has to be. I agree with you that you need to believe that you can do it and that you should focus on doing everything you can to create the future you want.

But there are times when your all is simply not enough. There are times even after you have given your all, you still fail, not because of a lack of effort on your part, but because the timing is simply not right. Circumstances are not working in your favour. It’s like trying to ask your boss for a raise after closing a really big and important deal, but your boss is not in the mood because his wife had an affair. Things like that can happen at the worst possible times.

There is a way to gain confirmation before you embark on something. There is a way to know the outcome of your actions beforehand. There is a way to know if the situation is in your favour or not. If you know all these, you will know where to focus your best efforts to get the results you want. You will also minimize unexpected setbacks and problems in your life.

I have already divined the outcome of 2012 for myself. I know that this is a year where I have to “Bite Through” many obstacles. Quite frankly, it is not the kind of foreknowledge or news I like to receive. But I am well aware to achieve what I wish to achieve this is the path I have to go. I know that when problems arise I have to “Bite Through” them swiftly and energetically. This is why my word for 2012 is “Perseverance.” I know I will need it.

The point is, it is possible to have this foresight and it makes a world of difference to know things early. Because the earlier we know, the earlier we can take action to change an unfavourable outcome into a favourable one. There is no backing down from my path, but at least I go in with my eyes open.

Thank you for showing us how to live today better than yesterday!

Thanks for the comment Irving and stopping by. I think sometimes the best thing we can do is put our heart into whatever it is we are passionate about and believe it will unfold just as it is meant to. Thanks again for the comment and for dropping by.

    Hi Sibyl,
If your “why” is big enough, positive thought processes follow & the doubt diminishes(because there’s no room for it left). You have to give to get. Give the thoughts that matter and you will get the thoughts that matter.
    be good to yourself

So very true David. I couldn’t agree more that the “why” can really get you moving continually in the right direction. Thanks so much for the comment.

    Thank Sybil!

This is just what I needed to start the New Year of right. I do try to constantly remind myself that it is possible all the time. Sometimes it is hard, but like you said it’s our job to believe.

Thanks for all that you do and I wish you much success in 2012

Hi Sibyl Happy New year :) You said it all in one, You’ve got to be willing to take steps in the dark, until you can see the light” For me this was very true. Every since I was a kid my major goal was to be able to read and write, for years I was walking around in the dark, At the age 25 the lights come on.

So Like you said You’ve got to be Willing to take steps in the Dark – Until you can see the Light”

    Great stuff

    Blessings Sibyl

    Hi Sibyl,

We will never have all the answers or complete assurance of results. Our job is to believe and keep faith that tody will be better than yesterday and tomorrow will be better than today. Having faith allow us to let go and commit without having all the answers. This has been a huge milestone in my spiritual development.

So very true Joe. It really is all about believing in yourself and continuing to just do everything you can in the moment. Thanks so much for the comment.

    Rand says:

Ok…here’s Rand’s version of the Ayn Rand quote:

    …ah…using all the words:

    *Real want… it exist.
Really what can be possible is it yours won?
    It is…it is.

“You must keep going … even in the dark.”

Sibyl, it is when nightime comes the showtime of our universe begins!
And so all is glorious (especially my heart).
