Why It’s Absolutely Not Too Late For You To Go For What You Really Want

“Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about.”—Unknown

When it comes to going after something you really want, have you ever felt like it is just too late?

Do you think you have waited too long?

Are you too old? Is it something you should have done earlier?

Well, if any of this sound familiar, then NOW is the time to start thinking differently.

One thing I have finally figured out (after way too many years of buying into the wrong thinking that it was just too late) …

There is no time limit when it comes to pursuing what you want.

It’s never too late to do what you really want AND it’s always too early to think it’s too late.

This is your time. What are you going to do?

I have an idea …

  1. Check out today’s video
  2. Start changing your thinking TODAY. Continually remind yourself that it really is not too late. The clock is still ticking. AND THEN
  3. Commit to taking a step forward TODAY, even if it is just a small one.

Continually lean in the direction you want to move. No more excuses.

Thank you Sibyl. I think this is just what I needed to hear today, even though I had already been contemplating it. I believe I have sub-consciously tried to beat my dream into submission for a few years now, but the funny thing about dreams…they refuse to die. And now I am feeling more unsettled than ever. If I continue to put it off, I know this feeling will just get worse. I still have the nagging voice that says it’s “too late”, so I just need to find a way to beat THAT voice into submission.
    Thank you again.

You are welcome Ryan :) Loved what you said about your dream refusing to die. It is so true … always something great to remind yourself of.

I totally agree. My belief is that my breathing is the ultimate sign of possibility. As long as I am able to take another breath, it is not too late.

By the way…I love that you added a video. Nice touch!

Thanks Nea for the kind words. I loved what you said about breathing is the ultimate sign of possibility. I think that is such a powerful statement:) Thanks for sharing it here.

That was just an absolute treat, Sibyl! I’ve had a few people ask me to post video of myself as well, but am afraid I’m still quite a ways away from the tech know-how. :)

But I was inspired! And thanks for the wonderful message! I have to admit to having been somewhat hesitant about blogging when I looked around and saw so many very young faces behind most of the blogs I saw. And here I was closer to 50 than 40 with a married daughter starting something I was unsure about to begin with.

But now I relate very much to that great quote you started with. I think about what I do at Meant to be Happy everyday. We have to pursue our passions. It just makes life that much more, well, passionate!

Thanks again Sibyl, for everything you do!

    Hi Sibyl,

It really is never to late to go for what you want.

I have mentioned my brother John before at different blog sites. John was dual-diagnosed schizophrenic / mentally challenged. His adult life was filled with wanting to be married, military service, driving a car, etc. He never gave up on thinking that he could have these things…much anguish at times for him. These wants pretty much were driven by the desire to feel normal, needed, and independent.

John’s last three years of his life were spent living with me. In our home I set up with the Regional Center for his social worker and a in house care provider to come by to teach him cooking, house cleaning, laundry, shopping, budgeting, and hygienic skills. The self esteem that he obtained along with his independent capabilities for the last three years of his life truly made his life full filled in the end. He was at peace in his final days.

I took the trolley home from work today. I watched a mentally challenged young man along with his social worker board at one of the stations. The social worker sat down next to me, and the young man across from him. The social worker was going over the paper forms for the education center that he was bringing his client to. I proceeded to tell the social worker about my brother and my life shared with him for the next 15 minutes. When they boarded off I gave each a hearty hand shake and wished them a great day…after they were gone the tears started to flow down below my sunglasses. I miss my brother.

There is much that I have done so far in my life time, and I plan on doing more, but I can honestly say that what I did for my brother will be the one accomplishment that I am most thankful for doing.

It does not have to be a big want full filled to give you lasting peace in your heart.
