This practice will propel you forward today

“Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming.”
— Mandy Hale

“I feel empty and numb,” Sarah said. “I don’t think I can handle much more.”

Sarah and I were on a Zoom video call with a couple of our other friends. We were having one of our monthly check-ins and catching up.

Sarah has been working through a lot for a very long time. Her father passed away. Her job has been really intense and everything else going on in the world was really weighing on her.

Like so many of us, these times (especially the last several months), had her feeling emotional and stretched.

Kelli and Tamara, our other friends on the call, were feeling stretched too.

“I’ve been pushing and pushing, waiting for things to fall into place with my business. I was hoping by now more would have come together.” Kelli said and let out a big sigh.

“I just don’t understand what’s going on in this country. Some days I wonder if we’re just going to continually go from one tragic incident to the next?” Tamara asked.

As I sat there that evening, listening and catching up with my friends, I felt so grateful that we’ve been able to go through all of this together and process things. It’s been intense and so heavy at times.

I also started thinking about all the challenges I personally have been pushing through and the big pieces I am still waiting on and hoping will fall into place.

What about you?

Is there something today you’re working through or hoping will fall into place? If so, know that you’re not alone.

Many of us are in one way or another being asked to trust and embrace the unknown. And, in case it’s helpful, I’ll share with you what I reminded myself of and told my friends that day.

Remember to focus in on the light! Yes, as the good old cliche goes, there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Although you’ve probably heard it countless times, it’s SO HELPFUL to remind yourself of this today and see yourself taking step after step forward and making your way through that tunnel.

Every day you want to see that light getting closer and closer and see yourself coming out the other side of the tunnel stronger and better. It’s a powerful image to see in your mind every day (especially on those tough days).

It's also a good reminder.

We’ve got to trust whatever happens as we’re making our way through the tunnel. Not just a little bit or kind of…we’ve gotta dig deep and really trust whatever arises because in one way or another, it’s all happening for a reason and we are going to find our way through that tunnel.

It’s like that great quote and little piece of wisdom reminds us…

“Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming.” Mandy Hale

Here’s a simple little practice to do today that will help you keep driving forward.

The Practice of the Day

Right now, see the light at the end of the tunnel. Remind yourself that you’re walking toward it. See that light getting bigger and bigger as you keep moving toward it.

Now, think of ONE powerful step you can take in the next 24 hours that will move you forward. Don’t overthink it.

It might be something that is already on your to do list. Or, it might be something you haven’t really thought about until right now. For me, it’s often not on my “to do” list. It’s something fresh and new. That’s the beauty of thinking through it right now in this moment.

You’re tuned in. It’s in real time.

Okay, now figure out a good time today when you will take that step.

Taking this step today allows you to achieve “speed of implementation”. Have you heard of this principle?

In case you haven’t here’s how it works…

When you’re working through a challenge or focusing on accomplishing anything, one of the best things you can do is think of your best next step and take it as soon as possible, ideally the same day.

You don’t need to know all the steps that you need to take. Instead, if you can just zero in on your best next step and take it as soon as possible, your next step will appear and day by day you make your way through.

When you’re able to integrate speed of implementation into your day, it allows things to shift and fall into place much faster. Before you know it, you’ve made it through to the other side of that proverbial tunnel.

And, the last thing I’ll leave you with today (because it’s always good to hear and be reminded of the truth).

You’ve come so far already. You’ve taken so many steps forward. Don’t forget to give yourself credit for all you’ve done. You’ve got this…just keep taking step after step forward.

How do I know that’s true?

Because that’s how you roll! You’ve gotten through so much many times before and you’ll do it again. All you’ve got to do today is stay grounded and use the days to keep taking more steps forward.
